This Informational lecture which will focus on PROMPT, (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) a dynamic, tactile-kinesthetic system that strives to (re) connect and integrate the motor, cognitive-linguistic and social-emotional aspects of communication. The philosophy, assessment procedures and technique of PROMPT will be described. PROMPT will be discussed as a System of treatment that helps clients gain voluntary control of motor-speech systems and links the necessary motor movements to linguistic (word, phrase) equivalents for use in functional communication. The Parameters of muscle tone, phonation, jaw, labial-facial and lingual control as well as sequenced movement and prosody are viewed within this model and will be examined.

Presenter: Ms. Olympia Avignone, MA, CCC-SLP, PC, has over 30 years’ experience working with the pediatric population with a variety of disabilities including: motor speech disorders, feeding disorders, sensory integration dysfunction, developmental language disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
